Island retreat truly embodies the heart and soul of Purehaus Developments. Although this is an expansive custom home with all the modern amenities you could ask for, its ability to connect to its natural surroundings and environment is unlike anything we have ever seen before. Architects Studio Balcaen Kwan designed this property with large family gatherings, relaxation retreats, and epic cabin weekends in mind. The three complimentary cabin structures can all relate in total harmony or be lived in as individual elements depending on the needs of any specific gathering of occupants. This fully off grid home uses passive solar design so manage its temperature throughout the months, and harnesses solar power with its 54 kilowatt battery storage system. Island Retreat used over 20,000 linear feet of timber from trees native to the raw site, processing all cedar siding, decking, and cladding materials locally on site. Lastly, Purehaus Developments designed and coordinated the installation of a custom pickleball court surface made from helical piles, structural steel, and cross laminated timber panels. 2,000 sq.ft court floats above the forest floor and allows the surrounding tree roots to thrive.
